Pouring candles
Do I need to make a reservation?
Yes. We encourage reservations to ensure a seat at the candle bar. For groups over six people, please email info@candlesontap.com for more information!
How long does it take to pour a candle?
The entire process of selecting scents, choosing your candle jar, and creating your custom-scented product takes about 30 minutes. Candles take about 90 minutes to cool before they are ready to take home. We are located in the walkable neighborhood of Encinitas, bursting with local charm, as you wait for you candles!
How much does it cost to make a candle?
Our pricing depends on the size/style candle jar you select. Each price includes your jar, 3 custom scents, and the experience of mixing your custom blend at our scent bar.

Reed Diffusers are $36
Can my party use the Buy 3 Get 1 deal?
This deal ONLY applies to parties of two, or per person. Not applicable for groups!
How late are you open? When can I come in to pour a candle?
We are open from Tuesday-Wednesday 12-5, Thursday-Saturday 12-7, Sunday 12-5 and closed Monday's. If you want to pour a candle and pick it up that same day, please plan to visit the store no more than approximately two hours before close, as candles take ~90 minutes to cool before they are ready to take home. All other items are ready to be taken home right away.
What are your candles made of?
Our candles are made using natural soy wax, pure fragrance oils, and lead-free wicks for a candle that is long lasting, clean burning, and true to scent. All products are eco-friendly, vegan, paraben free and non-toxic.
Can I bring in my own jar to pour into?
We aren't able pour into jars brought into our store from outside. Our jars go through an extensive testing process to ensure they are safe for burning in your home before they are placed on our shelves. Your safety is our number one priority, and we simply can't ensure that your candle will perform safely if poured into a jar that has not been vetted. (But we're sure your container is cute! We recommend repurposing in your bathroom or kitchen).
Do you recycle used jars?
We love recycling our jars into makeup brush holders, storage containers, or planters!
How do I clean out my jar to recycle it? Pour boiling water into the container, leaving room at the top. The boiling water will melt the wax and it will float to the top. Let the water cool and remove the wax. You may also pop it into the freezer and wait for it to freeze, then eject the wax mold out of the vessel.
Parties and Events
How do I book a party?
We require reservations for groups of six or more. To make a reservation, visit our reservations page and feel free to give us a give us a call with any questions.
Do you host private parties?
Yes. Please email info@candlesontap.com to tell us more about your party. We can host groups in our store for an additional private party fee.
Can I bring in outside food and drink?
Our shop does not allow outside food or drinks, so we encourage you to explore the neighborhood for a bite to eat while your candles cool.
Do you make candles for weddings or other events?

Can I purchase a custom-scented product on your website? Yes! If you would like to re-create your custom blend, or create your first one-of-a-kind scent not in store, head to our shop online page.

Do you sell gift cards?
Yes! You can purchase a gift card online or at our store to gift wrap.
Will you donate a candle / gift card / sponsorship?
Please reach out to info@candlesontap.com with your request.
Are you able to match the scent of my favorite perfume / lotion / another candle?
We’re confident that we can find a similar scent or blend of scents that you will love! If you live near our store, our in-store team of Scent Stylists would be happy to help you create a custom scent that is similar to the scent of your favorite product. If you aren’t able to visit a store, please send us an email at info@candlesontap.com with the name of your product and we’ll see what we can do!
My candle isn’t burning the way I think it should. What can I do?
We’re sorry to hear your candle isn’t performing the way you think it should, and know how disappointing and frustrating that can be. We take a lot of pride in hand-pouring our candles in store and take many precautions to ensure they are of the highest quality each and every time. Please reach out to us at info@candlesontap.com or bring the candle back so we can make it right!
